Halloween Cookies

I'm catching up on blogging! These were created to be given as take away treats for the guests of a Halloween themed birthday party. They are all decorated with royal icing and accented with edible markers and sanding sugar.

Cheekey Monkey Cake

I created this cute cake and co-ordinating cookies for a sweet little girl's first birthday. The design was based on an invitation. Inside was moist chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. I received this nice email from Ming...

Hi Sia!
Just got settled back home.
I wanted to send a few pics of the cake I took. It was a huge hit and everyone loved it...for the eyes and taste!
Thank you sooooooooo much.
The cookies we great too. Luckily got one for us too.

First Communion Cake and Cookies

This is prime first communion season, and here is another cake to celebrate. This was similar to an earlier design, but I incorporated the celebrant's initials on the cake and co-ordinating cookies.

Sweet!

My daughter's school holds a funfest every spring, and one of the most popular events is a cakewalk, where participants enjoy a game of musical chairs and have a chance to win a cake! This year's theme was All Star Sports, so I made two basketball and two baseball cakes. I intended to do a soccer ball and a golf ball, but ran out of time!

The black and white cookies are a new thing for me, but since a friend requested them, I did my research and saw that some people are really serious about their black and whites. I am happy to report that these beauties were spot on...crips on the outside, cakey in the centre and chocolate and vanilla in every bite!

Hawaiian Luau

My little girl has turned 4! She decided to go with a Hawaiian Luau theme this year, and between cookies for her loot bags, mini cupcakes for her classmates and a two tiered cake, complete with a look-a-like hula dancer, I was kept quite busy. The cupcakes are an egg-free vanilla recipe. The cake was one tier of banana cake with nutella buttercream and one tier of vanilla cake with orange buttercream.

Easter 2009

A samplin of some of this year's Easter treats! The cookies were made for my daughters' classmates, and the bread is a traditional Greek Easter bread called tsoureki.

Christmas cookies

These are some of the various cookies we made for Christmas, 2008. The mitten and lightbulb are gingerbread with royal icing, and the cookies on the plate are greek kourambiedes (icing sugar coated, almond shortbread) and melomakarona (honey dipped, spiced, orange walnut cookies).

Cars Birthday

Michael turned 4 and only wanted a Cars themed birthday. The two tiered cake was all chocolate with chocolate buttercream filling. The cookies were also chocolate with boyish and girlish themes to appeal to the guests.

Winter Bridal Shower

This frosty cake and matching cookies were made for Lindsay. Inside the cake was chocolate cake with vanilla filling and vanilla cake with lemon buttercream and raspberry preserves. The co-ordinating cookies were all vanilla flavoured with vanilla royal icing.

Ducky on the Beach Birthday

This two tiered cake was created for a little girl's 2nd birthday. Some of her favourite things are duckies and the beach. All decorations, including flip-flops, beach ball, pail and shovel, shells, etc were made of fondant. The lower tier was chocolate cake with milk-chocolate filling and the top layer was marble cake with milk chocolate filling. The matching ducky cookies were created for the same birthday party as favours for the guests.
